Oh yes.. sorry didn't see the post here, .
Excellent eve. Really nice vibes and a nicer bunch of blokes etc etc. Got there early to say hi at around 10, nice to meet Dots and Rez, and their large crew. About 8-10 of them over for the night. Particularly nice chap was their mate Richie,... who found it most amusing that my real name is Moike Marphay... Bilko and his Lady were there, and I had a lot of fun singing a few the horn lines out loudly with her.. there was a great moment when they dropped Shocker's Rock and the place went mad,... good tune that, and one of my favourites. lots of Studio One, DEB, some nice 12"s including a nice Silvertones tune on Technique 12" that I'd like to recall the name of more effectively! I got slowly drunk, really into it and the dancing last night. Various Deejays in the house and lots of chat later on in proceedings. Champion of course, alonside two thers and the Dublin Crew's MC, who, when he got into it was really most entertaining. Lots of nice moments, and comments from Champion about their selecting,.. like'In the motherland, we do it this and that way' etc etc. Lots of Roots, very little early Reggae and Rocksteady, but a good smattering of Ska from Tim and Mistah Brown. A fairly typical night I guess, but one that had particularly nice vibes. Zapatoo and South london Stephen turned up sometime in the early morning to say hi,,, Kebab on the say home, still feeling a little fragile now. I'm hoping Tim will post some pictures somewhere, or the Oirish lads will, there was lots of snapping going on.

Yes, yet another great night down at Tighten Up. Big ups all round to our hosts Tim, Steve & Champion and to Dots, Rez and the whole Worries crew. Good to meet up with you guys and cheers for the cds Dots (Check your pm.) I had a fine time, enjoying the strictly old school selection, drinking too much, dancing awkwardly, bawling for rewinds and chatting nonsense to anyone within earshot. Good to see many more boarders in the house too, Liam, Ringo & Sadie, Zapatoo, Stephen, Augui. And of course Mikey, who enjoyed the dis-comfort of my sofabed again. btw, Mikey you seemed to omitted mention of your 5 seconds of fame on the mic last night! "Mi can't take mi mudda-in-law'

Yes, I have said later 70s cut of "Midnight Hour", produced by Winston Riley on Techniques. However mine is on a 7" and not a 12". It's also credited to "The Selvertones"

Big Mikey...you should really look into a career in bouncing..or perhaps professional wrestling. Whats up with the dude on the left in this pic..he looks like he's just seen Zoki's parrot.. Forget sound clashing..I'd like to see someone challenge the Worries crew to a drinking contest. Last sound standing wins a years supply of Stella..

Bubble might be 'Bubble and Squeak' which I think is 'Cabbage and Mash Potatoe', if memory serves, been a very long time since I had any, whatever it is!

This is taken from the website linked to by Liam above, apprently Dots and all, you chaps are meant to know about this one!! Sounds to me like a kind of Hash Brown pancake with Cabbage..
'This may be a strange sounding dish to Americans, but it is dearly loved by the Irish. The bubbling and squeaking in the skillet as it cooks are the sounds of witches and ghosts trying to escape from the fiery heat! Not surprisingly, it is traditionally served on Halloween night. 1 sm. onion, finely chopped 2 c. shredded cabbage, boiled for 15 minutes 2 c. mashed potatoes
Heat the butter in a large skillet and fry the onion over low heat for 5 minutes until softened. Add cabbage and stir over low heat for 2 minutes. Fold in the mashed potatoes until well blended with the cabbage. Press mixture lightly onto the surface of the skillet to form a large pancake. Cook for 5 minutes until the underside has browned lightly. Turn and brown on the second side for five minutes. 4 servings.'

Bubble and squeak was basically left-over cabbage and potatoes from the previous day's meal - the potatoes may have been boiled, mashed or roasted for that meal, but in any case were mashed in the frying pan while being mixed with the cabbages (or greens).
This is best cooked (IMO) in bacon juices and eaten with a fried egg or two on top!!!
Whence the name comes, I didn't know, though the recipe section of britannica.com notes:
"This classic dish originally contained beef along with the left-over cooked potatoes and cabbage, though today people don't generally bother with the meat. The name is apparently due to the sounds that are emitted during cooking, the vegetables bubble as they are boiled and then squeak in the frying pan."
...while foodreference.com notes: "An old English dish, named for the sounds the ingredients make while cooking (or from the sound one's stomach makes after eating it). Some sources say it was originally cold boiled beef and chopped cabbage, others claim it was originally mashed potatoes and cabbage, while some claim it originally contained all three.
Today it is typically made from leftover potatoes and cabbage fried together."
...and wikipedia comments: "Bubble and squeak (sometimes just called bubble) is a traditional British dish made with the shallow-fried leftover vegetables from a roast dinner. The chief ingredients are potato and cabbage, but carrots, peas, brussels sprouts, and other vegetables can be added. It is traditionally served with cold meat from the Sunday roast, and pickles. Traditionally the meat was added to the bubble and squeak itself, although nowadays the vegetarian version is more common. The cold chopped vegetables (and cold chopped meat if used) are fried in a pan together with mashed potato until the mixture is well-cooked and brown on the sides. The name is a description of the action and sound made during the cooking process."

It all comes round to food reasoning in the end. ;D
'Bubble and squeak' - or more often just 'Bubble' is also cockney rhyming slang for 'Greek' (although I doubt that was on the menu, even in Kings Cross)

Bubble and squeek is great, goes well with a fry up!
Was great to see everyone. Though I was a bit civilized for me. I was trying not to smoke so when I reached four pint I hit the busses. Would love to come to Dublin. Let us know in good time when the event will go on.
