lucky man - -I think all the good stuff is filtered out now by the volunteers, before it reaches the shelves. All that leaves is the charity shop top three: 1) No Parlez - Paul Young 2) Val Doonican Rocks - But Gently 3) Bert Kampfert - Swinging Safari

That's not to forget a few other UK charity shop faves, such as...
My Fair Lady Soundtrack Camelot Soundtrack Jim Reeves (the one with the coloured text) Carole King - Tapestry and any of those Your 100 best Tunes Lps, with the strangely posed 70s Rural cottage interior shots on the cover!
Your 'No Parlez' choice nearly had me pissing myself johnska..

Didn't Paul Young get some votes on the recent "Ten Best White Male Singers" thread?
One name missing from the above list... James Last.

Don't overlook two James Last titles which are amazingly good:
Aquarius (1969) Voodoo Party (1971)
Dynamic interpretations of the Hair musical (if you rate it all, I do) and in the other example James Last does some funky latin beats. Don't laugh now, but there are some insanely irresistible versions if you can override your mind where the red light bulb immediately appears and warns you "James Last is pure dross". Most of the time those two albums sound like they were taken from David Axelrod's archives, no kidding. Anyway, those two albums are real finds from his vast catalogue - and usually doesn't cost an arm and a leg either.

Quoting Johnska " All that leaves is the charity shop top three:
1) No Parlez - Paul Young 2) Val Doonican Rocks - But Gently 3) Bert Kampfert - Swinging Safari
"Over here I can seldom visit a charity shop without chancing upon a "white gospel" LP by The Reverend Wlliam McCrea. I am partial to some Mahalia Jackson and Marion Williams but performances by members of Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionist Party is a few steps too far!

in a charity shop i came across G.Q. Standing Ovation 12" £1 MINT ;D I'd appreciate that too...Great but sadly forgotten funky disco soul aggregation. Are they around anymore? Their two versions of Billy Stewart classics are top versions! Large up!

^I'd take that lot of Bedward's any day. I wish I had that Thelma Houston as well. It's one of her best albums.

I think my find of the year so far is the Matador produced Wailing Souls' Gold Digger on a blank 45 for less than 3 euros. 2nd place for Rass Claat Dub on Grounation label for 10 euro (I know, not charity shop prices, but bargains still).

Haven't had any bargains so far this year. The little that I've bought has been at regular prices, 2-50 to 3-00 for a 7" and 10 to 12 quid for a CD.
Respect
