Just noticed that KDVS has the UA pressing of Message From The Meditations. When I listened to it, I noticed that there is this strange background noise that I can hear on around three or so songs - sounds like a super sped up tape of jibberish going on faintly.
Anyone else heard of this problem?

I have the same pressing, I'm not aware of the problem you mention but overall the recording is quite flat with not much bass. I have a CDR of the JA press which is much better.

Yep, I remember this being discussed on the old baf board, it seems to be a common problem with this issue. Although I have only noticed it on the tune 'Changing Times' where it seems a family of mice are having a conversation, which other tunes have you heard it on?

Ah, thanks for the old board info - I wasn't around back then. I notice it faintly on Do Mama Do and more noticably on Changing Times. Here are five second snipets of each song via yousendit for those who are curious as to what we're talking about: Do Mama Do (Snipet)Changing Times (Snipet)When I was down there, I saw a couple of Clappers LPs. Yabby You's African Queen, which I recorded and it turned out pretty well (if anyone needs it), and Jah Malla's Alive And Well (which was cracked and only about half of it was playable)

those UA anthology of reggae release were all "remixed" by tom moulton with varying degrees of success - must admit always thought the meditations release sounded nice & crisp - no mice in evidence - then that could be the big tabby round the corner.....

Message From The Mice. The problem is that we don't understand them.
