The flyer makes no mention of Alton but bills Dawn Penn, Jimmy London and Lloyd Brown alongside Sir John, GI and Ken Boothe. I have a feeling these last shows before the smoking ban will be very well supported.

I hope it is well supported, MSE. I noticed there is no mention of Alton on the posters/flyers so obviously he won't play which is a shame. He was billed on the Academy website when I bought my ticket though. Looking forward to it a lot anyway- its been more than ten years since i last saw the cool ruler. Ken boothe was absolutely brilliant when I saw him a couple of years back and this will be the first time I've seen John Holt - its about time I did cos these legends can't perform forever. I hope Buster reaches London soon

Any updates on the lineup? Is Alton performing?
Not sure if I can still get a ticket but I'm thinking I might go if it's worth it? Seating or standing?

Went to book tickets online and on top of the £50, they want £1.50 to collect the tickets at the box-office, and £6.24 'Service' Fee. WTF is a £6.24 service fee?! Anyway, I then rang and was told there's plenty of tickets available, so we'll just go down there and buy them on the day - hopefully without the 'service fee'.

A hilarious interview with Gregory and John Holt this evening on Blues FM. Gregory sounded like he couldn't really be bothered & handed the blower over to Sir John who was charming but sounding a little throaty &only just remembered Dawn Penn's name. Lloyd Brown mentioned by both as part of the bil....
Should be very well supported but a steep gate tax, that.

LLOYD BROWN'S "NO SHOW" AT REGGAE ICONS TOUR
Greetings MySpace Family,
I regret to inform you that I will NOT be appearing at the Reggae Icons tour with Gregory Isaacs, Ken Boothe and John Holt. 15th, 16th and 17th June
G***al Ent. and Cl**k Pro*****ns have NOT paid me a deposit for my appearance between the date on comfirmation (nearly a month ago), and today.NOT A PENNY
After NUMEROUS attempts in contacting them to forward payment and receiving feeble bullshit in return, I had no alternative but NOT to perform.
Once again another indictment of the lack of respect shown to U.K artists by U.K PROMOTERS rears its ugly, renk and nasty head
I apologise to my fans for the "no-show" and hope to link up with you soon on future BONAFIDE shows.
Many thanks for your unwaivering patience and time,
Bless Up,
LB
As posted up by Lloyd Brown on MySpace.

Moni - was that the loonies who turned up at 8:30 for the 9:30 doors open, only to be suprised when the band eventually came on to do their soundcheck at 1:30?

Four of us went. The organisation was a shambles, but it was good for what it was in the end. I didn't expect much more than it being a run thru of old hits that a crowd of all ages could sing along to. Doors opened at 7:00 and the queue was a round the block. We were expectating the show to start around 8 or 8:30. So did the dee-jay, who several times said "last record', only to then have to keep on playing. Then we were told there was a delay and I think they said the artists weren't even there. Eventually, the show started at 10:00pm to a lot of booing. I'd like to know if they had to shorten their sets to fit in the time to finish at 12:00, which were part medleys anyway.

Hmm...sounds a bit disappointing to me. Who filled in for Alton? Or did they just leave it?

Once the show started, it was good and the crowd loved it. No replacement for Alton or Lloyd Brown.

Thanks for the report. Glad you enjoyed it. I had wanted to go myself but it was impossible due to some personal stuff and I think I might have been a bit disappointed if I'd travelled from South Wales and booked a hotel etc.
I'll have to satisfy myself with going to see the Slackers twice next week.

I thought it was a good show, no one has mentioned that Jimmy London performed (about 5 tunes) and Dawn Penn did 3-odd songs so I suppose they were the replacement. Ken boothe was the highlight for me- doing his nifty footwork and retaining that wonderful voice. Particularly enjoyed is it because I'm black and silver words. show was due to finish at 12 but they stretched it till twenty past with the finale being a version of one love sung together by gregory, john holt and ken boothe.
