friday 1 st of december. 12 pm to 6am at La Maroquinerie club (Metro Menilmontant) : 23, rue Boyer / 20th arrondissement. nice place, nice vibes from france's original top selector Lord Zeljko (King Dragon sound) and northern veteran Selector D-Day (Swing A Ling sound - Lille) on a good PA. 12 euros. heaps of CS Dodd stuff, of course, but many other vintage tunes from original r&b to early digital sounds ( a fairly short segment). if any one happens to be in the area, well, highly recommanded, no joke !

no sir, you won't ! More original vibes are needed in the capital ! In Lille there was one hour of digi stuff, not more. those guys don't need to play what most other people play, this will be more like a revive party, it seems.Don't expect dub plates, either, normally. They certainly are not mandatory for a good dance, which too many sound goers seem to ignore these days.

They certainly are not mandatory for a good dance, which too many sound goers seem to ignore these days. last time I checked, rub a dub & early digital don't get that much play in Paris, at least not in high profile venues with decent PA, more in bars that close at 2.00 AM, and those style are surely included in the "revive" concept, remember the 80's were 26 to 16 years ago :-) To me Zeljko will always be the guy who opened my ears to the joys of rub a dub & early digital with his radio shows and I will forever be indebted to him for that so I will come and support no matter what he plays, even if an hour of JA r&b would probably bore me to tears ... Anyway to each his own, let's hope there's enough variety to make everyone happy. Cap.

oh no, don't expect 1 hour of Ja r&b, just a few tunes ! BUT lots of great ska, rocksteady and early reggae, an early digital segment and some classic tunes from the first part of the nineties. At least if Zeljko selects with the same mood as in the first Tribute in Lille. there will be enough variety to suit everyone, i'm sure, But it seems it's just like the selector now wants to go back to some of his musical roots. From now on, i guess those who expect him to play the styles in which he has always excelled - and now most of them copy and the new sound fans are all too prompt to ignore and would rather diss on lame local forums

...oops, phone call from the boss and i didn't even have time to conclude :
...are bound to be disappointed if they want strictly dub plates and such. He surely will prove them wrong if they have an open mind - not the most shared thing in the french "scene', really ! - by showing the audience how many killer tunes are not 70's roots or 80's rub a dub and dancehall. there are people who like all those styles and he will cater to them : there are just well enough "sounds" who all play the same sort of modern stuff, not-so-oldies stuff and dub plates that they all have like that ! i hope that dance will provide something different and attract many people who don't go to dances too often anymore. There is room for serious revive events in paris away from the usual cliques, that's a fact !
