JP sent me this. He plays really nice music :-) _________________________________
Hello all,
Firstly a huge thanks again to everyone for your interest in the Right On! club. I'm sorry that it's been rather inactive of late but the good news is I seem to have finally found the perfect new venue. Can't reveal too much now as nothing's confirmed, but hopefully Right On! will soon be back in Central London. More details soon come...
In the meantime I'm DJing this Friday (23 June) at a great night with a similar music policy. I do hope you can make it down...
Sweet But Deadly @ The Pleasure Unit 359 Bethnal Green Rd, London E2 6LG (near Bethnal Green tube station)
The night runs from 8pm-2am and admission is only £3 - however there's strictly no admission after midnight so arrive early if you're coming.
The music policy is Rhythm & Blues, 60s Soul, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Jazz and Boogaloo and DJs are Giordano (Rome), Smart Phil, Michael Jemmeson (Get It Together) and myself. There are also a couple of bands on at the beginning of the night but I'm afraid I don't know much about them!
Well I think that's all for now, but I hope to see you soon - either on Friday or at the Right On! re-launch party later in the year.
Best wishes, Jean-Paul

Hello all! Jean-Paul here. I've finally signed up - looks like this is where it's all happening these days?! Great to meet some of you (Gordon etc.) at the last Mash It Up! Good to put faces to names at last. Anyway I just wanted to let you know that the Right On! relaunch party has now been organised and finalised. If you can't wait till the next Mash It Up! on 21st October for your next injection of good vibes and music then you are most welcome to come down to Right On! on SATURDAY 23 SEPTEMBER - it'd be really good to see you down there. Details are as follows: Right On! @ Torts, 78 High Holborn, London WC1 (2 mins from Holborn tube) Sat 23 September. 9pm - 3.30am This is a wicked venue with a large wooden dancefloor, proper air con and a separate chill-out area for sitting and drinking. I will be hiring the Gladdy Wax sound system especially for the night so expect proper sound and excellent bass. The capacity of this venue is around 300. This will also be the official launch party for new Fania CD 'El Barrio: The Bad Boogaloo' compiled by Dean Rudland and we hope to be giving away some free copies on the night. Music will be a big mix of the finest in vintage black sounds on original vinyl covering ska, rocksteady, reggae, jazz, rhythm & blues, soul, boogaloo, samba, funk, calypso, mento and more. DJs for the night are two of London's most respected selectors: GLADDY WAX (Supreme FM) DEAN RUDLAND (Fania Records, BGP Records, ex-Blue Note and Acid Jazz) plus myself - resident DJ Jean-Paul Séculaire (Station FM) for more info check out the website - www.right-on.orgor drop me an email - paul@right-on.org Best wishes, JP

Hello all!! Sorry not to have posted for ages but I've been so busy with the Right On! organisation, my radio show... and my day job! Anyway, the good news is that with all the promotional work I've done this Right On! night looks like being the best yet (touch wood). Wanted to pop on to remind you that it's this coming Saturday - 23 SEPTEMBER. I do hope some of you can make it down - anyone been thinking of coming along?? It's on till 3.30am (or possibly even later) and is just a fiver to get in before 10pm. There will also be free copies of Dean Rudland's awesome new Fania CD "The Bad Boogaloo" for the first 25 customers. 16 pure killer cuts on there from 1966-1970. Well recommended. Full details on my newly updated website - www.right-on.org - but if anyone needs any more info just drop me an email on paul@right-on.org Respect, Jean-Paul

Great night! R&B/Boogie/Jump'n'Jive, hot Salsa, driving Ska, classic Reggae, old Soul, a few Northern tunes, mostly 50s and 60s stuff ...all excellently put together... Crowded, young and not so young (like me), nice venue (I had a bit of trouble finding it at first ) - sound system did the business, though some of the vinyl (including some great 78's) showed it's age. Great to meet J-P again and hooked up with SouthLondonStephen and his mate Alex for the evening... Only my advancing years and a persisting hangover from the night before made me leave soon after 1am... Only downer: Bar prices a bit steep...
