Is that the Larry Marshall 'Run Babylon'...or perhaps The Maytones. I know of no Vin Gordon cut on 7". Where do you know it from, Plattsie?

It's the Larry Marshall 'Run Babylon' cut by Vin Gordon (as Sound Dimension) titled as 'One Time' which was released on the flip side of Home Version by Dennis Alcapone (as Mad Roy) on the UK Banana label from 1971 (BA 326-B 1971)................happy hunting. This track also appears on the Soul Jazz compilation CD from 2005 Studio One Roots 2 track 10 as Babylon Rock credited to Vin Gordon with Larry Marshall also appearing at track 09 Run Babylon.

hi plattsie...no sadly that babylon rock ricky speaks of is not the same tune (not a good tune either) i have had it before.. it seems like soul jazz made up the title and it happened to already exist!! the run babylon hirns cut was a dubplate only until that release..i've heard a couple of really sick dubs to it

i know some of the infomation and sleeve notes on the soul jazz releases were dubious to say the least. the horns cut is a serious tune. shame it dont exist! thanks perilous and ricky!

agreed. ever since that roots 2 comp came out, i've always thought it a shame that the vin gordon, gladiators and that sleeping trees tunes weren't released at the time. major finds, those!!!

At least we can get to hear them now, that horns cut is top ranking stuff, glad there are more dubs out there somewhere Jack, but I can only wonder if many of us will get to hear those one day.
