For anyone interested, Robin Denselow will be presenting a programme on the music of South Sudan for World Routes on Radio 3 at 3pm on Saturday September 10th. He also has an article on the subject in the current issue of Songlines.

Looked up the contents of the programme and most of it was traditional music, here some clips of modern music from South Sudan:
The Bros band playing Kofi Ayiana a song of the Congolese band Wenge Musica:
and a clip by Mou Ataak Mou:

Thanks for these clips, Ronald. Particularly loved the Mou Ataak Mou clip; had to repeat play twice. Juba sounds to be a happening place these days. I bet the bars down there are a riot now that those slavery days are history. Heady independence vibes just like Leopoldville, Accra or Nairobi back in the day. The intoxicating sounds of liberation .... the future will be a complete bloody nightmare but let's seize the moment
