Portishead - Third. Good to have them back, Beth Gibbon's voice is sublime. Check her solo album also with Rustin Man if you don't already have it. A lot more chilled. Sublime. If only Tricky could re-gain his old form

Carola & Heikki Sarmanto Trio (Sähkö/Jazzpuu cd 8) A live in the studio jazz album by the late, great Finnish singer Carola and a trio of high class jazzmen. Originally recorded for the radio in 1966, and never before available on record. OK, OK, so the album already came out in 2004. I couldn't find her jazz performances on Youtube, but here are a couple of others: From the archive of the Finnish TV: Seize The Time is rather wonderful. yle.fi/elavaarkisto/?s=s&g=8&ag=91&t=592&a=4562Actually, so is My Favourite Things (a jazzy version).

I've been enjoying this one a lot lately: Did a review on this the day it came out and no one listened (Joe responded...but that was it)- I think it is fantastic. In any event, a little subsequent research has shown that while Eli was in Chi-Town, he worked as music director with a Pastor we may be familiar with- can't help wonder if she was in part his Muse

unholy alliance of southern guitar raunch and herky-jerky prog time changes, like a redneck MC5 at times...falling in love with this beast all over again!

a split single by the rachels & matmos from around 2000. i can't recall the name, where i bought it, or ever having ever played it. i was looking for something else and there it was, waiting for me. the whole thing goes on for half an hour and not a minute is wasted.

Bukka White - Baton Rouge Mosby Street. German session from `72 on the Blues Beacon label. Incredible. Gritty and otherwordly all at once. No other quite like him, that's for sure.
