talk about longevity, hats off to sonic youth. was just listening to Evol the other day and remarking how fresh it still sounds, well to these ears anyway.

When it was released, the 'Sister' album changed my life. It may sound trite to say so in these times but it's true. Awesome band.

Sonic Youth was my favorite band when I was in high school. I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but I still love them. They're amazing live too.
Have you guys heard their Ciccone Youth album? There's some dubby stuff on there that sounds like it was influenced by Dennis Bovell.

I used to love the Youth, but I haven't bought one of their's since Washing Machine. My fave is probably Evol or DayDream Nation. I never got into Sister, which appears to be a fave of a lot of people.

I was a big SY fan in the `80s...they practically invented indie rock for better or for worse. Daydream Nation was my favorite of theirs, one of those records (along w/ Miles' Kind of Blue, 1st Suicide, 1st Chain Gang) that makes me feel like I'm in NYC whenever I listen to it.

BTW, Rather Ripped was a legendary record store in California in the `70s.
