Must say I was never a big fan of Dylan, Ian - my older sister was, but my Mum banned her from playing her Dylan LPs in the house back in about 1965, because of his awful singing voice.....which is still way better than mine ;D ;D I prefer Dylan songs covered in JA style - I'm not a music theorist, but perhaps his songs "scan" better into standard JA rhythms - if you see what I mean...

Not sure about his songs covered in JA, I think they're fine but I'll always prefer hearing Dylan sing I Shall Be Released or Blowin In The Wind. (well from 30-40 years ago anyway not too sure about nowadays!) Also having said that the 2 instrumentals of those tunes by Sound Dimension and Lester Sterling respectively are both superb! Re: his 'awful singing voice' there's a funny scene in the Don't Look Back film from '65 where's he's berating a journalist and then boasts 'I'm a much better singer than Caruso... you have to listen closely but I hit all those notes and I can hold my breath for 3 times as long!'

Perhaps in the finest Erico Morecambeovicz, Dylan could hit all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!!!
Goodnight, mate!!!
