90 years old and still singing the blues!!
Oh, well I guess he's been in that juke joint in the sky for 20 years or so, but I'm cranking up "Hard Again" and saluting the king of the blues.

Yeah, I love Muddy Waters. A family friend had a box set of some older stuff, and he copied it all onto cassettes for me. I was hooked right away, and imagine my suprise to hear all those Led Zep songs!
BTW, is Pinetop Perkins still alive? My friend saw him play a show in NYC just a few years ago.

Big up Muddy Waters! Probably my favourite bluesman.
Hard Again is a fine album. Have you got I'm Ready and King bee, the other two recorded with Johnny Winter, Pinetop and those other musicians? Storming recordings all the way... some the best guitar playing ever laid to wax!

Pinetop Perkins is still alive and touring. The guy's 92 years old and still around! I have a cassette of his album "Live at 85" recorded 7 years ago. Piano playing is still decent, but the voice is, well, a bit old. But what kind of a bluesman makes it to 92? Didn't he learn from his cronies that a great blues man has to die young - a victim of bad women who make them drink gasoline while there's another mule kicking in their stall? I've yet to pick up "King Bee", but it's on my list.

I disagree rosko. Whithered old bluesmen are the coolest. As Muddy Waters aged, what he lost in bounce, he gained in heavy duty power. John Lee Hooker was doing his evil boogie for a long damn time. Lightnin' Hopkins, B.B. King...old blues men are a must.
That said, everyone should hear the all-acoustic "Muddy Waters-Folk Singer" in super Hi-Fi sound, as well as all of the early stuff.

No, no, no.... as someone who saw Alberts King and Collins, Son Seals, Big Mama Thornton and many others after they reached their "golden years", I would never dis what the old guys (and gals) put out. You're right - blues is music of experience, and the older you get, they more you understand. And as for "Folk Singer", it is a 5 star album - do you have the recent rerelease with the bonus tracks? Awesome.

Honestly, I must have paid $11 canadian for the cd I have - a new pressing with bonus tracks as well. Sell the gold, and you could probably get a hanful of classic cds.
Although the $224.99 version is made from 24 karat gold!! If you don't want to listen to it, you could turn it into an engagement ring.
