Not really concert, but I really enjoyed Henry Rollins' Spoken Word show '25 Years Of Bullsh*t' last tuesday. Funny, sharp at points and overall a very enjoyble 2+ hours. He's currently in the UK to finish off the European tour.

locals Orange Street's return gig on the well-known chinese boat venue on the river Seine. a great underrated french band (like most of the good ones from here) with a very versatile repertoire (from calypso to roots-dancehall).Killer early reggaes, skas and tight rocksteadies, not to forget the soul ballad and explosive dub played live, complete with horns and keys... very good surprise!

actually, it was docked and has been for a number of years.Still, if the bands rock the place, they REALLY rock the boat! it is very funny as some people seem to have trouble to keep their balance ! AND out of the windows you can see the tourist "bateaux-mouche" passing by and really wondering what's up on that Chinese boat.

Man oh man am I jealous - any chance they'll bring the Ethiopiques Party over to the USA?? Anyway, saw Cul De Sac (a band I co-founded in Boston back in `89, but no longer play with) and Circle (from Finland) two nights in row. Excellent! Circle is the best rock band I've heard in ages - sort of like Neu meets Black Sabbath - tranced out but heavy when they feel like it. I bought 2 of their CDs, both terrific. Last night I saw Helios Creed's first LA show for many years. Wild acid-punk, killer guitar freakouts. Great to see H with just a powerful rock & roll band backing him up, he got mired in way too much electro/goth crap back in the `90s. The man is an iconoclastic and legendary freak and it's great to see him back in action.

Mrs. Z and I enjoyed No.1 Station doing an open air concert on the South Bank (next to Waterloo Bridge) early yesterday evening - an excellent show as alwys. Sat with the legendary Siggy Jackson and enjoyed a couple of beers with Downbeat and some of the rest of the band afterwards.
