Anyone else lost their podcasts and unable to access their podomatic account? Mine's been mia for over a day now, (so apologies anyone who has tried tuning in) Apparently they've had some major crash and have lost loads of peoples shows and are still trying to recover it all. See here for more details... www.podomatic.com/forumpost/show/14002so anyone else here suffering the podomatic blues....?

Didn't log in for a couple of days ian, so your post made me check and seems I've got the same problems. Will wait a bit to see if they fully recover, but am thinking about cancelling the subscription for a while already and this could just be the drop.

I can access my shows but it does say this on the main page:
Site maintenance going on right now. Some data may be unavailable.

I didn't want to say anything at the time, but at one point I was so frustrated with Podomatic that I started work on something to compete with them. (I work as a web designer and have the tools and people at my disposal). I had visions of grandeur where I would create a new podcasting empire and invite all you lot to join up. I would make lots of cash and be the podcasting gorgon. However, after the programmer who did the initial work with me quit and moved to another city, the plan was abandoned. When Podomatic works, it's cool, but when it doesn't work it's incredibly frustrating. The fact that they offer zero support other than those dumb ass message boards tells me that they're jackasses. If my websites regularly had as many errors without any support, I certainly wouldn't last long. When my subscription with Podomatic expires next year, I don't know if I will renew. I'm starting to look at some other options, like these guys: www.hipcast.com/index.htmOr, I could see about doing it myself again. I don't really care about stats and publicity and all of that other jazz that Podomatic offers. As long as I can post my podcasts where people can enjoy them, I'll be happy.

First podcast, now hipcast. I thought a hipcast was something you wound up with when you fell on the ice. (That's all. I don't know anything about podcasting.)

I'll have to admit that I do love the statistics. I know its probably a bit of bloated pride on my part, just being able to see the info on traffic and especially the maps. There's something rewarding about being able to post something and see that some dude in Finland, Kenya, Kansas or New Zealand is probably listening in to what you're doing.
Self preening aside, I would like to see about another option, since I'm always running into bandwidth limitations and don't trust podomatic enough to throw another $150 at them.
If I could just get some bandwidth and storage to post a bunch of the old shows, I'd be happy. I could create my own RSS feed and have sort of a "archive" podcast. I've got something of the sort now, but am filling up the server space i have. Anyone out there have some idle space on their site to host some shows?

Everything Crash! Well now they've gone and wiped my page completely, and invited us poor sods who have been affected by this to start over again. They're still hoping to retrieve it over the next few days but it aint looking too good at the moment. So, I've put up The Ethiopians tune until I can get around to uploading all the old shows and info again... houseofreggae.podomatic.com/So yes if anyone does find a more reliable host, do let us know.

While Ian tidies up, just a friendly reminder that all 23 episodes of Sleeper's Record Shack are still online at sleeper.podomatic.com

Just been having a look at that hipcast place Mick. It seems very expensive for only storage and bandwidth whereas with podomatic you do get a lot of stuff for your dollar, including having your own page with 2GB of storage and plenty bandwidth plus all the stats and emails and publicity and networking etc and all for five quid a month. It does make the downtime and variable service just about bearable to be able to still enjoy doing the shows.
The hipcast has the following prices for storage and bandwidth only
We now have four levels of unmetered bandwidth plans.
UNMETERED Standard Podcaster - $9.95/mo Premium Unmetered bandwidth, 500MB Disk Space, Unlimited Podcasts, Unlimited Blogs.
UNMETERED Advanced Podcaster - $19.95/mo Premium Unmetered bandwidth, 1000MB (1GB) Disk Space, Unlimited Podcasts, Unlimited Blogs.
UNMETERED PRO Podcaster - $29.95/mo Premium Unmetered bandwidth, 2000MB (2GB) Disk Space, Unlimited Podcasts, Unlimited Blogs.
UNMETERED Corporate Podcaster - $49.95/mo Premium Unmetered bandwidth, 5000MB (5GB) Disk Space, Unlimited Podcasts, Unlimited Blogs. No setup charges.

Everything works fine with me again after some strange behavior earlier on.

Mine's still ok.
About time I did a new podcast.
I haven't felt inspired recently and have to be in the right mood otherwise I'd just stick a bunch of random tunes up there.

I slowed my frantic pace down to 2 a month. As Gordy says, the vibes and inspiration have to be there.

Never mind, they insert audio ads in the middle of your audio file (doesn't work for a mix!)

Hey Gordy, don't give away my secret formula!! anyway, I'm still here tapping my fingers on the desktop waiting and waiting. The last message they put up on Saturday said they should be getting the some of the service back on Sunday AM, so now its Monday AM and still nothing. Whats worse, is that the message I put up last week on my page to explain where all the shows had gone, has now also been wiped!!
