I'm thinking about doing something different with my podcasts, but need to do some research first.
So I am wondering: what do most people use for a media player on their computers? ITunes? Windows Media Player? Winamp? Quick Time? Or something else?
Thanks for your input.

I use both Itunes (for ease and searchability by rating) and Winamp (for the more precise EQ control)

I still use Real Player, even though I know its not most peoples choice of player. I have also been known to use windows, quick time and winamp. Whatever pops up when I press play usually!

To be honest, I still prefer cd player or turntable. I don't listen much music with the computer, it's just not the same sound. When I listen to a podcast I just click on play and I really don't know what media player I'm using then. All those different formats and players are just confusing me and get on my nerves. I have no patience for all those different computer techniques. Just my humble opinion and might be no help for your research, Dr. Sleeper ;D

Don't tell Jah Bill but I'm a Mac man so it's itunes for me. Don't listen much off the Mac although I should probably get a sound card and use the extra amp and speakers I have.
I should probably take out the garbage, stain the fence and do my laundry too but what the hell, that's no fun.
I'd say most of my listening is in the car as I'm in it about 3-4 hours per day and whenever I play reggae on the house system I'm always told to turn it down.
That's no fun either.

Anything I download , I tend not to burn to CD-Rs because it's time and more clutter (enough factory pressed discs lying around). The downside of this is that I can only listen on the tinny ol' laptop speakers so I don't listen much to the downloads. I know it is crazy to download music that I hardly hear but it probably appeals to the collector in me. Or the crazed fool. ;D Maybe Ill hook a computer to an amp and speakers one day ... ... maybe. ;D Oh, to answer the question - Winamp. I have Foobar 2000 installed too, for some reason that eludes me. ;D I don't understand Real Player. It asks me stuff and I have to click boxes.

I've got my PC hooked up to my amp - one set of leads and a jack plug is all you need.

I'm a Luddite at heart I think. I like to be able to see my music.
Hell, I have problems turning on the damn TV. I remember when there was only two knobs. One for ON/Off/Volume and one to change the channels. That was good technology. Simple, easy to use.
Why is technology now so fucked up? Years from now they'll all be laughing about the 'old days' of podomatic and itunes and winamp and wiskits. What the hell is a wiskit anyway?

One for ON/Off/Volume and one to change the channels. That was good technology. Simple, easy to use. Absolutely. We have a TV that goes onto stand-by even when you press the off switch on the set. The little red LED only dies when you switch off at the wall socket. That's irritating. Also, you have to press more than one button on the remote control to do stuff. By the time you've messed with it's menu and hit a few things in error you don't want to watch TV anymore. I hardly look at it even though it has quite a few channels we neven had before. Because it's LCD the people on screen don't look real either. Great pictures my ass. The cathode ray tube is the thing. Why is technology now so fucked up? Has to be because everything has software. They're constantly throwing things out on the market that don't work properly. The internet has forums dedicated to all this gear (TVs, DVD recorders etc.) so that people can exchange tips and advise each other or ask if anyone else has one that actually does what it is supposed to. You might have to "tweak" or "hack" something to improve things. Every piece of kit seems to have a different set of issues. It's all making me fail to care anymore. It used to be that everything you needed to know was in the manual. Manuals can now contain incorrect specifications (!) and are downloadable from the internet. If your gizmo didn't arrive by post don't think of going down to ask the guy in the shop about that which confounds you, he won't know the answers either. At least when I buy things they seem to last a while. I'm always hearing about things that break in a year or two. I expect about 10 years out of more significant purchases - any less than 5 and I've been ripped off! I have a 26 year old portable TV that still performs about as well as when it was new. It is unfamiliar with many leads that you might try to connect to it, though. ;D

And how 'bout those cell phones? There's a good way to listen to tunes.
I got a 400 watt cell phone with some five way speakers and a sub-woofer. You should hear Ring the Alarm on it!

Working currently on 300 Watts (someone on another forum has already done this with a mini amp and remote battery) in the glovebox of the Vespa... SOUND SYSTEM What was once only annoying to those fortunate enough to live directly adjacent to me will now be annoying for all!!!!

Apple is working on a new MP3 player called iTit. It will be surgically implanted in a woman's breast with wireless volume control. This will hopefully improve male-female relations, since many women complain that men just stare at their breasts and never listen to them. Thanks, you've been a great audience. Good night!

Knowing Apple, you'll probably need some special software to plug in.

No software upgrade needed for the itit.
May have to upgrade your hard drive however.
