I quite like what I've heard esp. the 2 tracks on PS Flag Flown High. However I have tha album Fighting for Peace which is relatively shit.
Any recommendations?

Up Life Street is okay, nothing ground-breaking but quite solid.
Healing Of All Nations is excellent, he's singing over old 70s roots riddims including several Augustus Pablo killers if my memory serves me correctly. I'll have to dig it out.

Healing Of All Nations only features a couple of tracks on Pablo riddims, the last couple of tracks in fact. The rest are on late 70s/early 80s heavy Roots Radics riddims, some of which I recognise as Linval Thompson productions.
It's on a US label called Roots Foundation.

I quite like the Rockers label set Yami Bolo Meets Lloyd Hemmings. I think it's from early to mid 90's .

Dots' list is [as usual] filled with plenty winners. LP wise - that Jah Made Them All is one of his best.
And in more recent times, his Jah Love LP has some classics [non stop loving, put down the weapon, more than gold, gun war, and puppet master]
But I don't see anyone mentioning the LP Star of Love - ruff sounds from the mid 90's [show me, call me, joanna, african woman, warmongers, jah love, maximum greedium, mr big in crime, star of love, & mind games - just about the whole thing is very repeat playable]
Would love to see him in a small club setting, firing off all those mid 90's hits.

put down your weapon with capleton is a killer.
i agree on that roots foundation set, mostly killer very little filler, ditto on the hemmings thing too.
yami bolo always puts out good to great singles but somehow his lps dont come up to that standard all the time.
one to really keep an eye out for is a live set from france, it was one of a few live sets the label put out but i forget the name of the label and they seem to have disappeared. while live reggae often doesnt cut it for me this was an exception, 90% killer on that one.

It is a killer Jah Bill - but sometimes I wonder what that song would be like without the Capleton part. [not that I think Capleton hurts that song too badly,,,,,plus me and djs don't always get along]
Then there's the other Bolo/Capleton tune - 'Liberation' ---- now that's one that I think woulda benefited if Capleton was out on a smoke break [they don't leave the studio for that though, do they?] The b-side melodica? on Liberation is darn good imo.
JB, did you ever pick up or hear Star of Love?

didnt like liberation at all im afraid. but if you want to hear put down your weapon without capleton check the live cd i mentioned, great version there i think (cant draw the cd right now as im not at home). im generally with you on capleton but in this case i think he contributes a lot to it.
dont have star of love but i usually avoid vp releases; they cant seem to get a decent mix to save their lives, never any bass to it.
that jah made them all release on rockers is a good one too.
i think yami bolo is a truly underrated artist.

Nah, Capleton actually makes both tunes (Put down ... and Liberation) more interesting, Semi-D. Actually without him, I guess they would get kinda boring. But I have this thing with deejays including Capleton, as ya very well know. ;D (thanks for the latest email John, much appreciated, will reply soon, cheers)

BMC - I hate to poke a hole in your bobo cap ---- but after that comment,,,,,,you best hope I never run into you in one of those Amsterdam alleys [do you have alleys in Amsterdam?] I can deal with Capleton on the Weapons song, [wanna hear that live cut now, JB] -------- but Capy on Liberation, I'm not budging on that one Marc. JB --- that Star of Love 'sound' might suprise you, or maybe not - for some reason, I half remember some bass comin' thru on that one. Will check it again and get back to ya...

there is a also a combination album released on a french label : not too recent tunes by some very good ones, including the Richard Cory cover, alongside Ken Boothe. another combo i really like is his Puppet Master At Play on Jack Radics' s very good Open Rebuke album. the most outstanding YB tune, imho, definitely is Ivory Towers, on a cut of the Tonight (Keith & Tex's) riddim on the Flash label (connected to NY 's Hi-Power label). a great album was also produced by Bunny Gemini around '96/'97, it exists under several names.the riddims are mostly decent recuts of well-known classic riddims but it is his voice that does it all. some of those were released on 7".

Patate and Le Silence de La Rue used to stock it.OK album, mostly a collection of not too recent 7"s. yes, Semi, the 96 album is was refering to is -among other titles -Star of Love - on Record Factory. some seriously great tunes, like max greedium, warmongers, joanna , mr big & in crime, etc... there is also a Michael Rose album which shares more or less the same riddims (part of it was sold later to CRS netherlands for a split cd with admiral tibbet)

Who feels it knows it - Observer LP is a good LP too. Not his best but good Niney produced stuff all the same.

definitely Ivory Towers on Flash Records : if you like the Tonight riddim, you can't go wrong, very moving powerful song with good lyrics.there were also other very nice tunes on the same series, one Anthony B and one Rolex are those i remember best.
