From a thread discussing the best Culture LP on SWNMF, Scotty replied
[glow=red,2,300]I agree with Dan. 'Two Sevens Clash' is my favourite, followed closely by 'Africa Stand Alone'.
Reel[/glow] Scotty, was it yourself who reviewed Africa Stand Alone for NME back in 78? If it was , do you still have the review to post here?
For what its worth my favourite Culture album is Production Something

Hard to choose between "Two Sevens Clash" and "Cumbolo" which is also a great album.

1. Production Something 2. Two Sevens Clash 3. Too long in Slavery 4. International Herb
These are the only ones I've got. In fact, feel there's very little to choose between my choices 1, 2 and 3. All terrific. And I love that No bones for the dog release that versions some of Two Sevens Clash.

My fav is Two Seven Clash which I love a lot and consider as one of my fav LPs.
I heard once Africa Stand Alone and I remenber it as a very good LP.
Cumbolo, Harder Than..., International Herb & Lion Rock have some good tunes...
I'm perhaps the only one to think this way: there are some groups who never achieved to overpass their first LP. Groups like: Israel Vibration, Culture, Gladiators, Abyssinians, Congos,...

Grumpy,
"Too Long In Slavery," as I'm sure you realize, is a mix of two culture LPs, "Harder Than The Rest" and "Cumbolo." "Harder..." is my favorite, and I think it's worth having the whole thing. I notice some other folks like Cumbolo a lot too...I like it, but the former is much more satisfying to me. Also, some people are mentioning "Production Something" and stuff...I'd think we'd be talking about ORIGINAL culture LPs, rather than collections...
Oh yeah, my point was, I'm interested to know everyone's choices out of the original Culture LPs, as opposed to compliations, because there are still a few I don't have.
