Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2006 2:35 pm Post subject: Duke White - any info
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He recorded mostly for King Edwards.
Does anyone know anything about him, particularly what relation he might be to ska vocalist Joe White?

One of those guys who's a complete mystery I'm afraid.......
Think the best bet would be to ask some old artists who were around King Edwards at the time, maybe Roy Panton, though I haven't heard from him in a while(since I was unable to locate most of his tunes for him due to someone not getting back in touch with me on the matter...)

Was that me Gordy? I was in touch with Roy for awhile and sent him some tunes but have failed to follow up.

No Mike, you were a great help in managing to locate and send Roy a few tunes. This was a prominent UK collector.

Duke White was no relation to Joe White. It's like asking if Steve Barrow and Tim Barrow are related or if Cornell Campbell and Prince Buster Campbell are brothers or if there's any relationship between Keith Stone and Jah Stone.
'Sow Good Seeds' is his best record.
Shame Gordy couldn't help Roy; wonder who that UK "Collector" was!

It was you. "I've got many of Roy's recordings, mail me." Ah yes I remember the words so well.
Now Roy Panton probably thinks I'm a bullshitter. Cheers.
Gordy.

Joe is posting without reason a crass attempt at getting more stars for yourself?

I've still got 'em Gordy. Unfortunately, I just have a record player, no tape deck. If you can arrange something I'm sure the job could be done.

Yeah, well it's also like asking if Delroy & Trevor Wilson are related, or Alton and Hortense Ellis etc. so not really a stupid question Reel.
