i enjoy this rough-sounding JA soul man very much but have been unseccessful at locating copies of the following records. If you know someone who'd consider selling them, please let me know.here is the list : lover (federal) cousin of mine (JJ) i love the way you are (Flame / blue cat) * i'd rather be blind (lord koos) maga dun (jj)
natural woman (? / bullet) one door (jj) some nosey people (jj) stay together (jj - if it's not Get Together under another name!) true love (upsetter/punch) < is the flipside an insturmental version by roland alphonso ?
* this is rather strange as it is ccredited to Dermott Lynch on a UK pressing but it does sound like Carl and the sort of rocksteady he is known for, any opinion ?). i would love to buy those on JJ, especially, but a copy on any format would do...thanks in advance

Quoting lankou2: true love (upsetter/punch) < is the flipside an insturmental version by roland alphonso ?
Can't remember for sure, lankou2 - but I don't think the other side "Roll On" is - this one is on the Soul Twins "Pound Get A Blow" (U.K. Upsetter US315) rhythm, if that's any help???

Thanks for the help, Zap, any info is always welcome.i bid on it recently and lost, couldn't fight against a bid of over 50 quids! GRRRRR! i suspect it'd have gone for much less had it been on Whatever Rds or a mere blank 7". always the same with those labels linked to Pama : some sort of skinhead obsession, i guess.

Just playing "True Love" now - completely different rhythm - another familiar Perry rhythm, but I can't place it.
Carl Dawkins in good form on this one!

I saw Carl live some two years ago, and he was pretty wild through the whole set! especially when you knew how many strange ciggies and rum he 'd had before coming on stage. He was on the razor's edge all the while. The backing band provided him with a big brass band (6 in Bordeaux, 4 in Paris) that had prepared some serious Stax-like arrangements for him:KILLER! there were plans to release a live album but they have not fulfilled so far.

Just checked my database, L2 and "I Love The Way You Are" can be found on the "Jamaican Memories" CD (Trojan TJACD014, 2002)
It's credited to Dermot Lynch on there...
