Peter Hunnigale Lloyd Brown Sylvia Tella Don Campbell Peter Spence
they also deserve a mention : Roger Robin Nereus Joseph Dawna Lee Vivian Jones Janet Lee Davis.
too many of them aren't that active but i rate them as high and sometimes higher than many current JA singers. That lack of recognition seems rather unfair, imho.

I really like Wayne McArthur's voice, assuming he still voices over tracks.
Is Peter Spence related to Sonya?

Are Barry Boom or Phillip Leo still around, two male vocalists of my choice, way back in 1990 or so, jeezuz is that 15 years ago already? Same time difference as in talking about the original Skatalites in 1980.

Lloyd Brown is my favourite, his cover of Bongo Nyah is a top tune.
Respect

very nice humble guy too! he does REALLY know his classics, for real! One of the rare UK singers who has seriously tried to reach out for continental Europe. i saw him open for Sanchez once, great gig but it was pretty obvious Sanchez 's band didn't really make too much of an effort to back LB.

Tena Stelin (style a style and fashion a fashion and this man got style I tell yuh) Rick Wayne (still waiting for this man to break big in the UK roots movement) Kenny Knots (more of singjay but still "up there") Danny Amharic of The Amharic (truly gifted man with a sweet sweet voice) Nervous Joseph (not much from him these days but still a great voice)
actually there's too many but just pick five but these first came to mind. peaceness

Danny Red! Theres one to talk about. Just love his tunes apart from that crappy album he did in for some major company. Would love to hear some new material from him. For those who missed it I seriously recommend his "Give Jah Praise" on Sipacup which come some time ago. peaceness.

I've liked the albums Paul Elliott's been involved with. Underrated singer imo.

Paul Elliott is definitely Jamaican and resides in JA too! as for those roots artists from the UK stepper-dub scene, i don't really get their thing, most of them lack vocal soul, maybe i am also prejudiced because i have no opinion about the sort of music they use. that stuff doesn't move me, really.also one of the reason i now spend much less time on that other forum.Levi Roots is a good singer, though.the music on the album i have is good too. errr, NerVous Joseph, eh eh, that was a good one!
