Nice to see an artist of the calibre of Alpha Blondy rocking Newcastle city centre in a free outdoor show, and somewhat fitting to hear songs and speeches promoting liberty, unity and democracy beneath the monument commemorating the reformist Earl Grey, who as Prime Minister oversaw the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 (but is much better known, of course, for the tea that's named after him). Junior S' first reggae show (he met Owen Gray earlier in the year, but didn't know who he was) seemed to go down well, though being young he fell asleep towards the end. He freaked a bit at being woken by the cacophony of kick-drum and bass which closed the show, mind. He was a little disturbed by the stilt-walkers meandering through the crowd beforehand, too. Missed JB Mpiana, unfortunately.

Gordon - you will have to move closer to the toon. No good being stuck out there on your porch with your long johns on every night saying night John Boy, night Mary Ellan and so on.
