fair play to the musical fever massive for putting this on, pity there were not more able to support it on the night. one of those nights where nearly all the tunes were new to me anyway, one from massa was new to london altogether apparently. music the winner for me on the night as there was no point picking between the selectors. time and space for a sugar tribute as well. the only downside was the sound quality which was too 'noisy' near the stage.
urge the massive to get down there for 11 september for asher g, tommy rock a shaka , clive chin & chucky downbeat
good to see ritchie, penny, platts, wassie one, mr rice, mr hat, bruce, t and chucky and my barber tyrone out for the night with his mates.

I agree mse, two top draw selectors quite clearly enjoying their night as much as the crowd. Just hope some audio of the night appears. Blimey, there were enough cameras there! Great night

Not a duff tune all night..nobody could have worked harder than the Ras to get the crowd going...still too much of a chinstrokers affair for a dance atmosphere..not enough women..the selectors were faultless..the crowd were poor

... good summary. would like to know a little more about the music, penny spotted up a couple of junior delgado, the only obscure one i knew was that justin hines for jack ruby - love to know the name of the tune & its availability, otherwise loads of instrumentals (suits me) including a very good one close to the 'summertime' instrumental but not it. loads ofroots and one drop tunes on one away rhythms - chinstrokers step forward to furnish the details ! The best tune of the night was 'First Gone' by Count Ossie And His African Drums with solos from Rico (trombone) and Gaynair (tenor sax). The Junior Delgado tunes were a solo called 'Every Natty' for Observer and a group affair, with Jr singing lead for Time Unlimited on 'Reaction' for Upsetter. The Justin Hines was 'Prophecy Must Fulfil'. I don't see how the crowd was "poor". The crowd were there to enjoy themselves, they were not part of the entertainment, not part of my entertainment anyway. Big up the crowd!

big up the promotors and all who attended the session. i had a great time overall at this dance. didnt think the turnout was bad, especially considering the somewhat tricky location (unless you live locally or driving). plenty of north london heads made it down plus the japanese crew. would agree music was the winner although to me masa played much better tunes. digby played a nice varied set as well tho. the baddest tunes to me were pretty much all instrumentals. don't think the tunes mentioned by Observer sums up the night very well in my opinion. would be nice to hear a recording of the dance. do not agree with the camera filming with a headlight to match tho.
steverice, just curious were you yourself dancing and did you invite any women yourself?

thanks to all for the support. massa and digby loved it.
location was awkward, especially with the blackwell tunnel closed. still phil enthucol told me a done a rough head count of 120...
thevibes, have we met/do i know you? you obviously a follower of rice and peas style selection, as i am too... but i didn't think the 'peter' i thought you maybe showed that night.

Be curious no more...i came to the dance from Bristol with a pal 230 mile round trip and we brought two women ...perhaps my criticism of the crowd was a little unfair..i was really looking forward to the night and i loved the tunes but i still felt a bit disappointed at the lack of crowd and vibes...i had hoped more people would turn up

hey aka_richie perhaps we have met but i dont think you know me. or rather i don't think i know you. but i'm terrible with names sometimes. i have been to several of your events and thousands of others so anything is possible. i was certainly there on the night dancing away having a merry time together with my better half (the most gorgeous girl in the place). speaking of rice and peas, having just returned from france, over there everyone was convinced roman stewart - rice and peas was about vegetarianism...
big up steverice, anorak type dances such as this one is in my experience often mostly attended by arms across head nodders. such is life! at least you and I have not forgot why its known as a dance. looking forward to one day soon making the journey over to bristol to check out one of your nights!
