Are the Harmonians really The Kingstonians great podcast ! That would make a TERRIFIC album, and Jackie Bernardn his bro and their mate could do with some money. Well, well, in an ideal world, given the crisis in music nowadays.

hey rey, yeah i'm not 100% sure on the harmonians track, but i was told by two different people that it's jackie on lead. it certainly sounds like him, but i'm not sure how to best check it to make it official, short of asking the man himself! either way, not a bad tune to include, eh?
also, RKR has the caltone sides as 67, but they certainly sound 68 to me. is that your feeling as well?
cheers

edit: i should have said that those two people said that it's jackie on lead here, but not necessarily the kingstonians proper. more like perhaps jackie did a session with the harmonians, rather than the harmonians being another name for the kingstonians. i didn't want to give that impression.
and i might add, a tape you made for me some years back contained "more wine" which was the first time i ever heard the tune, and it's been a BIG BIG tune to me ever since. cheers!

What a killer compilation! Thanks for posting. It would be great to see a definitive Kingstonians collection come out with everyone getting paid.

Jackie B signig lead for the Harmonians, yep, that's plausible, given he also recorded on the Tennors label, including leads with The Tennors themselves. Besides, The Harmonians appear at least twice on Tennors B-sides, one being one of the pressings of Another Scorcher (another has Monty Morris on the B-side). I have never made the connection as i tend to think that The Harmonians sides are not as punchy as The Tennors. Not that they are bad at all, but simply inferior to the main side, imho. Btw, did you get the Natty Dread issue with the J Bernard roots album ? Good one.

The Harmonians 'Be My Queen' b/w 'Go Back Home' was released on JA Gay Feet Pre. A label copy does exist on JA Gay Feet credited to The Harmonians. Been listening to Mr Bernard for a long time, definitely Mr Bernard on lead.
