I plan to finally get around to buying this one day but I notice that there is a UK version and a US version of a couple of thetracks on the album.
Which release is best please STUFFers?

The deluxe version on US Rhino with extra tracks.
Bit more expensive but you get lots of extra tracks.

You can get it from Amazon Marketplace for between 5 and 10 quid but I've never used any of the sellers featured so don't know if the offers are too good to be true or not. For about 5-50 I'd have a gamble though!

Almost certainly the greatest album ever recorded by a white vocalist.

Maybe James, maybe. The point is though that Springfield is just a hoarse voiced, made up little girl compared with singers like Lavern Baker, Ruth Brown, Ella Mae Morse, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Faye Adams etc. I see this poor 'Memphis' album appearing in all the rock writers' lists of greatest ever albums but in my opinion she can't even sing. The greatest white female vocalist is in fact Wanda Jackson.

Of course. There are 100 great black singers to every white one.

I bought the album based on all the 'classic' hype and... I listened to it about 10 times and found it pretty forgettable (completely so, in fact. I can't think of what it even sounds like). Needless to say I was underwhelmed.
Joss Stone on the other hand, there is a great white girl singer who records stuff I can remember.

'Let's Have A Party' is Wanda's best tune in my opinion.

I'm enjoying the Dusty lp, some sentimental British pop tunes by the Kinks and Ella on Sunday morning. Everly Bros anyone?
