Hey, The Dead were kind of cool... you can't compare the likes of 'American Beauty' to 'What's The Story Morning Glory' - you all have higher standards across the pond and have never had to deal with the horror of Brit-pop and such like.

Yes, thankfully we are largely spared the Brit Pop here and the Robbie Williams invasion has been so far repelled. Still, our airwaves are crammed with the awful howling booty shaken likes of Maria Cary and J Low. Or the violent finger wagging boasting of some really bad hip hop artiste. I would much rather listen to little barking dogs with babies screaming than today's commercial radio.

most of the britpop "orders of the day" chosen by the nme and their likes are over-rated. most of the US r&b barbies & kens are over-rated, all of those macho gun-welding wannabe rap gangsters and gangstas are overrated. Most of the big names who sell millions today are over-rated, apart from Celine Dion, who can deliver dangerous songs in french and in english with a similar deadliness : just like a two-bladed razor, her english releases cut short all hopes and the following french releases annihilates every dream of resistance : actually, no one can say that the plague was overrated in times of yore, just like AIDS and Celine today! her side effects on today's western world (and beyond!) haven't even started to be properly assessed.the disease is still spreading : just check your local version of American Idol!

Please... we'll even throw in a box set of "The Greatest English-Language Films In Canadian History". All we ask for in return is, umm, a mouldy ham sandwich and maybe a flat can of Tetley's.

Canada gave us Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and, um, Neil Young so we shouldn't be entirely ungrateful.

Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell you can keep. In my mind, sad relics of a simpler time...
