Keep hearing this guy on the radio with a record called "Crazy", but he seems a bit of an enigma. There's the possibility that it might be 'a famous person' incognito I like the record though Anyone??

So you've managed to get hold of a couple of moody copies of the album. Now what? Put them on eBay with a discrete description? Nah mate - put 'em on eBay and tell everyone where they were stolen from!! tinyurl.com/r25ke

THat tune's been all over the TV and radio News over here this week, due to the decision to count downloads towards chart figures, which is handy publicity.

Been listening to the promo of this album; it smacks of cynical moneygrabbing.
The tunes are all written in a certain way that exploit various keys and instrumentation, the production (with the exception of Just a Thought, but even that has an acoustic guitar) is rather jaded and a bit populist and the vocals seem designed for todays taste for over-the-top diva histrionics.
Not that I'd expect otherwise from someone as intelligent as Dangermouse, but its a bit as if a musicology postgraduate had sat down with a team of pop song writers and written some songs designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. And then asked their computer to produce it in a way that it sounds best over radio or iPod.
But I guess thats life in the world of pop...

a black man singing his heart out... now that's what i call roots.
[to varese] when the vocal's this good, i don't care if the backing track is designed to appeal to the masses - if it showcases how good the singer really is, let them man make as much money as they can from it. i'm sure that you don't have to be a 'conniesseur' to appreciate the quality of the singers voice.
in fact, all the best vocal performances that i've heard could stand transpostion over any musical style - be it pop or not...
you either a vocal or a rhythm man!
ps/ many thanks to bedward for replaying the totp performance - have been aching to catch that again since sunday.

Personally I like it when both vocals and rhythm rock! Well... I bought the album. I even think some of the songs are good; crazy, for instance. I still think its an incredibly cynical exercise in pop-by-numbers by Dangermouse, but its a feck of a lot better than some other groups I could name.
