Apart from the classic Stax original by Linda Lyndell and 90s hit version by the lovely Salt & Pepa, I've recently been enjoying the Melba Moore and Laura Lee versions. Thanks to the very helpful skabadabadoo at Trojan: www.trojanrecords.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2051and a friend who had a friend who had the CD Atlantic Sisters of Soul (now retailing at 66 quid on Amazon!), which contains that great early 70s version by Laura Lee (and loads of other classy stuff), Amazon were more reasonable, at 4.50 or something, for Creme De Creme Vol 2 which holds the previously unreleased Melba Moore version. I can actually see why it wasn't released, but it has grown on me and I love the dubby break in it! Anyone else know these, or any other versions?

Don't take all Amazon prices as Gospel. You could pick that CD up somewhere for a tenner tops.
Some people on Amazon and GEMM have obviously been smoking crack.

Quoting SouthLondonStephen: Anyone else know these, or any other versions? Just the Linda Lyndell one, Stephen - though I know of the Laura Lee cut, I never heard it yet (and certainly not the Melba Moore version) Don't forget En Vogue did a version (Called "Whatta Man") on their "Funky Divas" album from 1992... ...must dig that one out

Don't forget En Vogue did a version (Called "Whatta Man") on their "Funky Divas" album from 1992... ...must dig that one out I did forget mate. Well done. I think I have it on single somewhere actually. Will keep an eye out. It's a 1994 CD G. Sometimes those old deleted soul CDs do sell for alot. Obviously 66 quid is a joke, but 10 quid would be very lucky! Still depends how long we look right
