Hello all, There is a certain song by either the Staples or just Mavis Staple that I have tried to locate for years - in vain. I taped it from the radio in the early 80's and did not manage to catch the name of the song. I've also lost the tape, but that song just keeps haunting me after all these years... By the sound of it (as far as I remember) it came out sometime in the mid 70's. The song is slow and very funky with a prominent electric guitar, and miss Staple is in fine form. No strings or any other soft frills, I think. The refrain goes something like: "I'll take the high road and you'll take the low road We'll meet at the station and share our destination". Since there is such a fine bunch of connoisseurs together here, I thought I'd take this up here. Does anybody have a clue?

I thought it was the "Long Walk To DC" but it ain't........
Sure it's not Betty Lavette? She had a track called "The High Road".

No, not miss LaVette either, I'm afraid. I found a clip of her song in the internet. I seem to remember very clearly, that it was Mavis Staples singing. That song was the one that made me discover her music and singing voice.
But I know that one day I'll be able to crack this case. I'm not in a hurry.
