musicology #367 SuchIsLife #1 One of the roughest, toughest cuts to ever grace my speakers. If you don't know it then youre in for a treat. Lord Creator - Such Is Life themusicologist.wordpress.com

Was that last piece NOV 12th? F***s Sake.. Not that I haven't thrown down since then but that cut transcends time and space. Been around the world and back since then...today it's another Beres. Gregory Yesterday. Not sure what tomorrow. Beres Hammond - Always Be There themusicologist.wordpress.com

musicology #456 TheManWithTheBag #6 (Nitty Gritty – We 3 Kings) Moving out of the 50’s Doo Wop into a majestic slice of mid 80’s Christmas dancehall Reggae from Santa’s ‘JamDown’ bag courtesy of Glen Augustus Holness a.k.a ‘Nitty Gritty’ one of my favourite DJ’s. Born in Kingston in 1957 His life was cut short at the tender age of 34 outside Super Power record shop in New York. Much speculation as to the who and why and as I wasn’t there I’m not going to add to it. Suffice it to say that yet another talented artist was cut down in his prime by gunshot. themusicologist.wordpress.com

TheManWithTheBag #7 (The Kingstonians – Merry Christmas) After a day’s sabbatical yesterday, (big night out Sunday !!), time to climb back into the musicology saddle. Also that last piece by Nitty Gritty deserved more exposure than just one evening so it all worked out for the best !! Anyway…enough of that and on with the music….today’s cut is another slice of the ‘Jamdown but this time it’s a slice of Rocksteady from the Kingstonians’. themusicologist.wordpress.com

musicology #504 CoversWeek2 #1 (Hortense Ellis – Sitting In The Park) This week I’m revisiting an earlier musicology theme concerning cover versions. Cat’s got my tongue a piece today and I have plenty to do regarding ‘the project’ so I’ll just get straight down to business and kick off the proceedings with Hortense Ellis’s top ranking Studio1 version of Billy Stewart’s Soul classic ‘Sitting In The Park’. themusicologist.wordpress.com
