OK, I know something is wrong, but I'm getting stats that s aymy latest podcast has been downloaded 12,000+ times TODAY, yet my bandwidth has barely moved.
WTF?!?

Same here, Benja. All of a sudden the stats tell me my latest mix was downloaded around 7000 times today, which ofcourse is plain bullsh$t. No significant change in bandwidth either. Hope they fix this, cause I like to have a real idea of the numbers.

Yep, it seems to be becoming a regular problem. Check the forums on the podomatic site as a few other people have reported it aswell, but no explanation has been forthcoming as of yet....

I've send a message to the 'pro support' thing about this. Since the message I posted above I've gained another 3000 downloads in the statistics, crazy. Hope they can solve this.

Generally what appears to happen is that the bandwidth jams up, people can't get your show, and then click like hell to try and get you, these clicks get registered as full downloads, but actually nothing is really happening apart from that.
I had 50,000 in one day once, and like you the bandwidth allowance was still sitting there virtually untouched.

Fortunately, seems they fixed it. Apparently the traffic was coming from some place in Chicago (where I live!) Really WTF?

They told me exactly the same, Benja, some place in Chicago (gave ip info and all, not that was of any use, but a good service from the podomatic crew checking what was going on). They didn't tell me how it's possible one ip address can request a show over 10,000 times a day though....

At least it wasn't something personal then if you had the same issue. I got a lil worried since I'm in Chicago, wondering if someone was trying to mash up my podcast...

I've pretty much given up on checking stats, downloads, and ting. I just upload a new podcast every week or two and know that people are digging it. I enjoy it a lot more this way...

Yeah- I would too if I wasn't paying for Pro stats and shit...maybe it is time to go back to regular (and have all my band width socked on the first day)

surely you've heard of 'Denial-of-service attack'? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack"The uploads replicate and develop relationships. Most of them go very bad. You sometimes get an entire virtual planet of four billion people devoted to building prayer wheels in an attempt at a denial of service attack on God." – Ken Mcleod, Newton's Wake ;D

Yeah, I'm familiar with DoS attacks, must have been that; but I didn't expect every hit to be counted as a download although anything is possible with podomatic's stats I guess. ;D
