I just used ftp to access my space on podomatic for the first time just now and discovered a load of images there hidden, images obviously being used in spam e-mails for viagra and the like. I obviously don't know how this works technically, or if it uses up our bandwidth when e-mails access them, or if they will only use accounts getting a lot of hits, thus keeping them unoticed I guess. But it's probably worth going and deleting them, if only to prevent some poor sod getting them in their inbox.
There IS another possible explnation for this..
I did read on podomatic somewhere that you can receive multiple files by e-mailing them to your podomatic e-mail address. I'm guessing that this might be why I've found these there. As any images e-mail to my address at podomatic by a spammer might be saved there.
If nothing else it will take up your valuable storage space!
Mikey

Thanks for letting us know about this BMD. I was wondering what was going on in my storage space on Podomatic, since it seems to claim that there is about 200 MB worth of space being taken up that in un-accounted for.

Gordy I have a free FTP program called Filezilla made by the same folks who make Mozilla. It's really easy to use. The program has address, user, and password spaces that need to be entered. Then you pretty much just connect and and download, upload, rename, and delete stuff as needed.
I'm gonna try to play around with it to see if I can login to my Podomatic area.
How did you figure out the FTP address to edit your stuff BMD?

Strange, I just checked my Podomatic info, and it looks like the extra 200 MB disappeared within the past week...
Tried to login via FTP and couldn't figure out what address would work.

RA, the ftp address is.... ftp.podomatic.com/ I find it much easier and a lot more reliable using this to upload shows than through the usual podomatic page. Gordy, The ftp program I use to upload shows to podomatic's ftp site is called coffee cup. If you google it, you can find a free copy to download. And as Ra says, you just need to enter your usual podomatic name and password to the ftp site and the program to connect them and be able to upload shows from your pc to the site. Its easy once you get used to it, Mikey showed me the ropes recently to be able to update the label site aswell. Cheers, Ian

To access your ftp, create an account with your software, and you want your ftp address, ie, ftp.podomatic.com/ in the box labelled 'host'. User = your podomatic user name Pass Word = your podomatic password. The defualt settings should be fine Port 21 etc. and logon in the 'Normal' type way. That should/may get you there, then it's delete and upload/download in a fairly obvious way generally. Any good? Ian told me that once you've uploaded using ftp, that when you go to post new episode where you have the button 'import' it will give you an option to open up that new MP3 and use that one you've just uploaded usin ftp, though I havn't done that yet. I've just browsed the space.

My storage space has been more than half used up I will look into this. Thanks for the warning.
Also I had some spammers leave like comments on all of my episodes as of late. Anyone else have that problem?
