richteratmosphere.podomatic.com/This podcast pairs each song from The Royals' "Israel Be Wise" LP with its corresponding dub version found on The Force Of Music's "Liberated Dub" LP. I took Tim's suggestion and presented this podcast as a mix. It's a simple mix in that each song begins as the previous one fades out. I've yet to master the art of the custom discomix like Sleeper has. ;D

Cheers mate, just need to do my mixes at a decent hour next time and not when I'm half asleep!! Did you spot the "slowed down" tune and the slight gaps between a couple of tunes? Respect Gordy

Didn't notice the decreased pitch on any tunes, although I wasn't familiar with most of them anyway. Segues were good Gordy.

1385 Errol Dunkley 1236 Johnny Osbourne 819 Yabby U part 1 739 Delroy Wilson 643 Derrick Harriot 611 Keith Hudson 603 Tribute to Coxsone Dodd 601 Gregory Isaacs Part 1 595 John Holt 572 Tappa Zukie part 1
Seems things have been picking up lately. I used to see 2 or 3 hundred downloads in the first few days, now I'm up to 1200 already for this Johnny Osbourne set.
40,000 Listeners BMD?! Geez! Does 200 GB last a month with those kind of hits? What does it cost to go from 100GB to 200 GB? Can you keep doing increments?

BTW, what places do you cats get the most downloads from? So far, it looks like Sleeper's Record Shack makes the most impression in:
Northampton - USA Melbourne - Australia Namur - Belgium (the ancestral home of Mick Sleeper) Copenhagen - Denmark Zurich - Switzerland Neuchatel - Switzerland

40,000 Listeners BMD?! Geez! Does 200 GB last a month with those kind of hits? What does it cost to go from 100GB to 200 GB? Can you keep doing increments? Nope, I went over the 100gb (repeatedly) and upgraded ($14.99 per month now) for 200gb, and it looks like I'll exceed that this month, perhaps. Particularly if I put the next show up before the reset day. At an hour (approx) each and also at 128kbps, then bandwidth is more of an issue than shorter shows, or shows of equal length at a lower quality. But I've settled on this length and quality as the way I want to go. Luckily donations have nearly kept up with cost for a while now. As far as I know there isn't a quick way to upgrade even further, but I did read somewhere that they have a contact to further engage with them over tailoring to the clients extra 'needs'. TO MICK - Downloads seem mainly in Europe and USA, getting a few in China and the Middle East, Japan etc. Oz and New Zealand, a smattering in South America and the Carribean, 40! from a single location somewhere in Canada! Though quite why you'd download the show 40 times Mick is beyond me ;-)

I didn't bother including my numbers...once again, I am the Glen Brown of podcasts... Give yourself some time, with your site and solid take at things you'll be complaining about bandwidth sooner than later. Don't start something you can't finish man. hehehe, we'll see.

Actually, BMD, the downloads that puzzle me the most are in Nunavut, which is an Arctic province in Canada. My stats map shows that someone in the middle of nowhere has downloaded 18 times there - some polar bear with an iPod perhaps?

In Nunavut?
Imagine that desolate hell hole with the sounds of Lee Perry booming out over the tundra.
Now that is surreal.

I had downloads from there aswell Mick. Good to see the polar bears are enjoying themselves out there! I also recently had a couple of downloads from the middle of the Borneo rainforest. An orangutan with an ipod!

I have a friend working for the UN in Liberia and I know she's been downloading the show, but I never see any hits in Africa. Maybe their traffic goes through an ISP in Europe somewhere? Or maybe their geographical data they're basing the maps on doesn't have good data for Africa?
Strange.

Interesting point Algo. I wonder if they are using a satellite uplink, or the ISP isn't local as you postulate, the numbers may not be counted. I also notice that one day you see downloads in a particular area, for eg. as I have had, Nairobi, then you at a later date notice there aren't ny, not a problem as the thing uses as default the last 7 days. Reset it to 14 days, or longer, and those downloads still don't show... I also think, given last weeks debacle where the whole site was funged for a while that downloads are counted as clicks to download, registered. ie, people who have problems downloading will click and click again to get the podcast, registering extra phantom downloads as they do so.
