Rodigan must have a helluva of a collection, being trainspotter and hugely successful broadcaster and selector

I tink we should be talking selectors not collectors - any fool can spend his £100,000 annual salary on a load of £500 tunes....what makes a real selector is taste and understanding of their audience....my nomination is Asha G - selected on his dads sound from age 13, inherited all his records and then carried on collecting til now... I doubt theres more than a couple of people in the UK to rival his selection - all the better because he built it up using his own history and taste and not by sending an astronomical cheque to Andrew Neale every month. People like that confuse me - when all the tunes they want are the £500 biggies but no "personal taste" "little" tunes which any selector will haver hundreds of. Not calling any names but you know what i'm on about....always wanted to know how much a tune went for on ebay before deciding if its worth having

Merritone has the biggest I have seen. But I doubt he has ever had the time or inclination to count them. What would be the point?

the two times i've met merriton blake, he was alarmingly kind and genuine. he was supposed to dj between two sets at a festival last year and he was almost telling the stage manager to "hold on" while we talked, and i was just inquiring about his tunes under the handle "blake boy" for matador and others. top kat. if i had known his collection was like THAT, i would have had even more questions!
