Mario, why don't you just order it from www.dustygroove.com/varfunkcd.htm#409476 for example. I don't understand your whining. Why do you have to get everything for free? I usually get virtually everything from my local dealer if I ask him nicely and tell him to order one for me.

No need for personal flaming guys...
I rarely ask for anything in return for CDs I've coped and sent out, I know I'll get stuff back and it's usually interesting too.
Quite a few on here have sent me plenty of CDs and though perhaps I've only sent a few in return, I would be more than happy to do more for folk - overall, I'm down on the "deal", i.e. I've sent out many more than I've received, but I don't mind, cos it's spreading the musical word around and I'm still spending out on tunes anyway.
What goes around comes around - you reap what you sow "Like the farmer says to the potato, I'll plant you now and I'll dig you later" etc. etc.
All that would stop me burning for folk would be unwarranted personal attacks, not actually being able to afford the gear (CDs, paper ink, packages, posting) or that "knock on the door"...
Thanks for the AF2 comment Lawrence - I'll be buying somewhere after pay day...which is Wednesday (thank goodness!)

and i still have the feeling that ahorn is juha .... ;D once more: your high standards are the exception. and regarding funk: i recently bought 2 discs from france which cost me 40 euros. i am not hunting for free stuff. i am hunting for stuff not available in germoney. and even the french record shop even didn't know about AF2. (i forgot to mention this shop specializes in funk ...)

Mario, you have to pay more attention - of course ahorn is Juha (remember the maple leaf conncetion?). Anyway, you have to change your grumpy attitude - good things come only to those who wait But there is one thing I can totally agree with you: the recordshops in Germany become more and more crap. I haven't seen a new reggae revive release in the shops for months, except for the Soul Jazz stuff. Sometimes the new BAF's, PS's or Trojan's show up months later, but reggae gets rare around here. I nearly have to order everything through my local dealer... But some things never show up. And especially French cds are hard to get. That's why I keep up visiting Paris & London

I still have to ask: Have you tried asking from your local record shop? At least here it works very well - they look at their on-line catalogues and place order on spot and there's a big chance you'll get it next time you visit there. May take some time though and could a be a tad more expensive, but if you really want something I wouldn't hesitae paying a couple of euros more.
If this works here in a tiny and marginal city called Helsinki why wouldn't it work in much bigger city like Hamburg? I'm very sure it'll work especially if you're a good customer and you don't have a reputation of not being a tyre kicker or failing to fetch the items you've ordered.

juha, i've tried it in many local shops. there is only one shop specialized in funk and they only have vinyl. then i asked the SATURN (big chain) stuff, they can only order what their distributors offer and that is mainly the usual kent/goldmine northern soul stuff. here in germany you have to give up on at least 50% of new(revive) releases. i am tired of telling the shops what's on the market. seems i have to give up on many releases. instead i'll listen to what i have, should keep me busy for a while .... ekki, i'll try to be not so grumpy anymore but it's a hard task when you see what is available e.g. in the uk.

Quoting Mario: ...then i asked the SATURN (big chain) stuff, they can only order what their distributors offer and that is mainly the usual kent/goldmine northern soul stuff...The Saturn on Hansaring in Koeln(a b-i-i-i-g-g store) has a pretty comprehensive and sizeable Reggae section, Mario - the Soul section is pretty good too. Also, when I was looking for something a bit left-field several years back (I can't remember what I wanted), the guy there offered to order it for me, but didn't, as it wouldn't have arrived in the store until after I'd come back to England. I don't recall how good (or not) the range of French label Reggae stuff in there is, though
