All are welcome (including you quiet ones who loiter at the back) to come down on carnival weekend for a session. Anyone that wants to play some tunes can bring some along, or not, no pressure, it's just about enjoying the music. Plenty of room for just chilling, and chatting. So far we've had loads of board members over from as far away as France, Eastern Europe, and even Northumberland; let me know if you'd like to come and I'll provide the details. First to book himself in was Penny Reel, closely followed by aka Richie, Mister Swing Easy, BMD and Ian. It would be nice to also see a few people who've never ventured down before, you're welcome to bring a friend if you've never met anyone on the board. Cheers,
Ringo email: ringo "at" crytough.com Saturday 26th August, starting in the afternoon until late. South London (near Brixton).

Yes, be good to see you all, drop me a mail if you want to be on the list for details and directions nearer the time. I do have the Ace Of Spades LP as it happens, but I don't want to clash with Penny's early 80's New Wave Of British Heavy Metal set.

Not 100% on reaching this year now.
Went to book a train ticket and all the cheap seats are gone and they want 80 quid return the robbing twats.
Bus is cheap as usual but the idea of travelling on a coach for 7 hours in this heat isn't appealing to me at the moment.....
I'll see what the weather's like in a fortnight before making a final decision

£80 sounds a bit hectic. Maybe someone oop North might be bringing the car down and you could subsidise their fuel tank instead.
Maybe even someone on your way down could be hooked up with ie. bus it to their town and go the rest of the way by car?

Not Megabus, no.
Cheap as chips they are, 2 quid to 25 quid return depending on time of booking but they use standard UK double decker buses bought from local bus companies.

...they use standard UK double decker buses bought from local bus companies. Respect Gordy ...which are less-than-comfortable if you're going ten miles in one, let alone the thick end of 300 miles... ...and without A-C too

Not comfortable at all mate and they're always full of students who insist on talking at the top of their voices non stop for seven hours. But, it's 20 quid approx or 80 quid...... Even if I was working full time, 80 quid for a train journey would STILL be a bloody rip off and they even have the nerve to call it a "SAVER" return (standard return being 100 quid!). Rant over Respect Gordy

You'd probably be able to plane it as cheaply as train it??? mikey

Yes, it's 55 quid mate (25 cheaper than the train and affordable at a push) but the flights from Newcastle land at Stansted which is nearer to Cambridge than London and it's a further 20 quid return to get the train from the airport into Liverpool Street, so I'll be saving the grand sum of a fiver Respect Gordy

This is true, but I'll have about 150 quid to cover the entire weekend including travel, so spending half of it on travel would have me watching every last penny.
Spending 25 of it on travel however will ensure a monetary stress free weekend!
