Spent the afternoon in Liverpool today for the first time in what i thought was about a year & was looking forward to a browse in Hairy Records on Bold St, a great shop with a fantastic history if sonewhat a little overpriced. Imagine my surprise to discover Bob the owner had died, the shop had been taken over renamed the Vinyl Emporium & had since closed in March thus year. Tearfully I retreated to wait outside Hell (Primark) for Mrs T. The only other second hand record shop I'm aware of in the city with a musical heritage the envy of the world is Cult Vinyl where on my previous visit all my selections were unpriced & the guy behind the counter got out his Record Collectir Price Guide to decide what to charge me which only led me to think that in Cult Vinyl he was one letter out . I'll stick to Manchester where shops are still springing up including the newest Beatnik Records in Altrincham & to quote Tony Wilson "Manchester kids have the best record collections"
