Listened to tons of the stuff this year for the pleasure of it but from a very narrow range. These have never been far from the set
Jaques Loussier - The Very Best Of Play Bach The Amazing Bud Powell (1 & 2) Blue Note Something Else - Cannonball Adderley Blue Note Blue Train - John Coltrane Blue Note Kind Of Blue - Miles Davis Ahmad Jamal - Live at the Pershing Lounge
Been saving for a while for an autumn splurge and will shortly be branching out to order music by Lee Morgan , Curtis Fuller, Horace Silver , Hank Mobley and Charles Mingus - all unchartered territory for me. great to explore and learn though. T.

Some beautiful jazz records there. Somethin' Else is perhaps one of the finest albums I've ever heard, as is Kind of Blue (which isn't that weird really as I think it's more or less the same players in the same era?).
If it wasn't for that my HiFi is in a box at the moment (re-painting all rooms) I would have played some Mingus for sure. Brilliant artist. When it comes to Mingus there's three albums I've always returned to: Mingus x5, The Clown and my utter most favourite The Black Saint & the Sinner Lady.
Other jazz that I've enjoyed immensely is the Black Jazz, Strata East, Trybe and related catalogues. Often some very spiritual music.

'something else' recorded spring 1958, cannonball adderley with miles as an unlikely sideman; 'kind of blue', spring 1959 with cannonball returning the favour with coltrane etc. love then both. T.
