Our Big Brother update:
George Galloway MP has been accused of bullying fellow contestant Jodie Marsh, and is reported to have said he had expected there to be more debate, and to be asked questions such as what Tony Blair was like or about the Iraq war.
He also said: "Someone of my age and class is not used to young women talking as they do in here, with no orifice left unopened." He complained about Miss Marsh's "extraordinary stories which involve every orifice and fluid known to man", adding that he hoped his daughter never spoke like that.
-----------------------------------------
Tempus edax rerum - time, the devourer of all things, has gobbled up Alex St Clair aka Alexis Claire Snouffer, guitarist (along with Ry Cooder) on Captain Beefheart's earthbreaking debut disc Safe As Milk - news.independent.co.uk/people/obituaries/article338509.ece and www.beefheart.com/datharp/albums/mbmembers/snouffer_obit.htm so, for him, and for Giles, here's a Blowin dedicated to you.
Thanks to the Saltaire Stonewall Possse for the tip and the latin quote inna maximum learned stylee.

To see King Dong - 187 mins
The film was a saddening bore, I'd heard it ten times or more.
But at half the length it would have been great, a classic monster story with all the themes around forbidden desire and freedom and power.
Also the resurrection myth - you can't kill a monster which inhabits the region in between human and animal representing our fears as well as our needs. Alright, I know it's just an adventure story but they couldn't include Heart of Darkness references unknowingly.

Owed T'Alex
Stupid heart, cupid heart
Where will ya go from here
Magnetic ring, magnetic draw
Ooh, whatcha got me into
Eye of ah wolf, chrome craw
Leavin' ya now, I'll write cha, ma
Takin' ah putt up t' Carson City
Well, if y' hear me howlin' - W'hell,
Sittin' pretty, Tastin' nitty gritty
Puttin' on in t' Carson City
Sparks, tattoos, 2 tat, 'n ah toot
Helmets, crosses, 'n a patch t' boot
Engine hot, pipes burn white
Glad ah'm not … home t'night
Five miles back
Ah took ah spill
Thought I almost paid m' bill
Makin' m' putt ta Carson City
Party time with the Jones by name
Aww, it's a shame - say, it's a pity
Gotta putt outta Carson City
[Don Van Vliet & Herb Berman]

..and this week's Karoake Dan lyrics, from Steely Dan's first album Can't Buy A Thrill
MIDNIGHT CRUISER
Felonius my old friend
Step on in and let me shake your hand
So glad that you're here again
For one more time
Let your madness run with mine
Streets still unseen we'll find somehow
No time is better than now
CHORUS:
Tell me where are you driving
Midnight cruiser
Where is your bounty
Of fortune and fame
I am another
Gentlemen loser
Drive me to Harlem
Or somewhere the same
The world that we used to know
People tell me it don't turn no more
The places we used to go
Familiar faces that ain't smilin' like before
The time of our time has come and gone
I fear we been waiting too long
CHORUS
[Walter Becker & Donald Fagen]
