I pop in to check my detailed stats per show and find an item with stats that i didn't post up.
2007-04-06T02_26_01-07_00
It turns out to be a copy of another show I've posted. It isn't showing on my homepage, or anywhere else, not even in my 'Media', just at the top of my stats for each individual show. It appears to have been up for 2 days now, and has taken only a few downloads. But why, what and... i pannicked assumed someone had breached security and had got in under the fence to place a fake and spurious show under my name!!
Tell me Podomites?? What A Gwaan?

I've still been getting download stats showing for a couple of old shows that I deleted!!!
Very weird indeed.
Are there any better podcast hosting sites out there?

I will say that I've only had one problem with podomatic and it was when I upgraded and the first 2 months my paypal account was acting weird. But as soon as the problem occured I emailed people at podomatic and they got back to me within minutes and fixed the problem. They have a messageboard where you can post a problem with this and one of the admin will respond back to you.
The other podcast sites I've seen were often too simple or too complex. Before podomatic the one site required each user to register before using. Which is a rather big pain in the ass. There's the podcast pickle site a couple of people have used. Or you make your own website and build your own server.

I think I'll stick to Podomatic, despite the occasional glitch it's fine.
Also I think it's been a minute since I last said thanks for getting me started in all this mate!!!!
Cheers!

As you started your shows Gordon everyone on this board started putting them up so I think you got more people into podomatic than I.

Yeah, that brings up something that I've considered before... that Podomatic might inflate the stats of premium paying members. Maybe that's just my paranoid side showing, but it seems like such a conspiracy theory would explain why Gordy gets download stats for deleted shows and other users get 500 daily downloads within a five mile radius of the south pole. These inflated stats might encourage people to keep paying for the extra service. Sounds kind of negative, so I didn't mention it until now. Also, I don't mean to come off as saying that a huge amount of people aren't tuning in or that the shows don't warrant a high number of downloads. I loyally download a number of shows from Podomatic DJs who post here as soon as the shows are uploaded. Despite the glitches, I think it's still the best site for podcasting around. Instant downloads simply by clicking a link and without having to login. Very nice. The main thing that bothers me with podomatic is only a minor thing: I wish that the file name that the user uploads would be retained when people subsequently download it. Because who really can remember which show 2007-04-01T15_41_50-07_00.mp3 is? I've still been getting download stats showing for a couple of old shows that I deleted!!! Very weird indeed. Gordy

RA - I've asked myself exactly the same question, and of course if they wanted to so this, i think they probably could, it doesn't make much sense though, the stats are everything when it comes to selling the service, they'd be sunk if they got found out.. I put lots of details into my MP3s so that they shouldn't just be that number/name thing... when you download them, they should still have an embedded title/show name etc.

Tell me Podomites?? What A Gwaan? You should be cautious Mr Murphy. A lot of reggae listeners are very sensetive about so called podomites. Next thing you know, someone will be yelling out, "burn the phi phi man!"
