Ai, I see that using up my bandwidth is starting to show, I'm dropping, fast. But hey, I still never paid a $ to podomatic yet, so with that in mind, 66 still aint bad.

No matter what ranking I have it does not bother me much. If I was able to do a show every week I would and would probably be in the top 20 but I have other interests. I don't remember anyone even having any interest in a podcast til I posted mine. So I'll proudly take the tag of originator.

Bah! Not even in the top 100, despite my best efforts to wake the town and tell the people...

Just been flicking through the various podomatic top 100's and I was overjoyed to see my page creeping into the lower reaches of the 'most fans' chart. woohoo! Maybe chart music aint so bad after all!

I find it weird that some of the tops show and the shows with the most friends are the ones that spam you alot with friend requests. Like Dave Rabbit and Danger Zone that have a format that has no peaking interest to my show and/or the majority of my fan base.

It may not be any consolation, but if I may quote the great actress Lola Heatherington from "SCTV" - "I love you all"!

The best tunes never make the top 20 It's all about critical acclaim, which I get plenty of! I'm about to drop a couple of selections of 80s dancehall - Techniques, Jammys, Black Scorpio, Thunderbolt, Volcano selections - so watch me go to at least 30 (I hope, though I'm not to fussed about it now as I have a tidy 4.000 listeners a week)........ meanwhile what a difference a day makes... DanceCrasher crashes one place in the chart but the mediocrity of the dibby dibby sound bwoys shows through as they fail to make any kind of serious impression on the mighty two. Hang up your modems...it's game over. 9 (11). BigMikeyDread 20 (19). DanceCrasher 33 (32). Pressure Drop 43 (41). Algoriddim 48 (49). DJ Geedy G 52 (67). Mobtown Ska 66 (66). BMC

Well you and Mikey have a big advantage Tim as you both got on Itunes. They won't let me submit mine. I tried when it was new and they were like "go away newbie" and now it won't let me try again, saying it's already been submitted.
As I said, how many killer tunes actually got to the top of the charts? Early 80s biggest tunes were things like "At The Club" when Barrington Levy, Earl 16, Little John et al were in the lower reaches.
So I'd rather be Barrington Levy than Victor Romero Evans ;D

Well hopefully my new improved 40ish minute mixes will get me more listeners as not everyone has the time to check out 70 to 90 minute sessions.

Ah so I AM in Itunes? Didn't know, they must have let me in the side entrance lol. And I'd expect someone who can count Bob Brooks, Ras Digby, Gladdy Wax and Clive Chin amongst his friends to be higher than a transplanted Yankee bwoy in deepest Sussex ;D All joking aside, every one of us drops killer selections and to be honest it's not really a competition thing with me. Though I do have a bit of an ego sometimes and it's nice to get it massaged Respect Gordy

I've asked it a couple of times before with no answer, so I'll try again. How does this getting in iTunes work? Is that pro-account only or is it really that option in the profile page (I think) that starts searching for the iTunes program on your PC and tells you to install it if it's not there?

I've just submitted my 'cast to itunes and have just received the following email... Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast feed, [ houseofreggae.podOmatic.com/rss2.xml ] was successfully added and is now under review. Whenever I receive these 'under review' meassges I always have an image of old men sat around a large oak table in a cigar smoke filled room, discussing the merits of my podcast while sipping on a whiskey and making critical remarks about style and pronunciation, before holding a secret ballot. Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get black-balled. Maybe I should have slipped them a brown envelope full of used notes just to make sure!

Yes bmc, Thats what I've just done. Click the link in the directories page and it takes you to the page on itunes to sign up and submit....

Thanks a lot ian, at least someone willing to answer. Must admit I didn't even notice that directories page before. ;D I'm planning to upgrade one of these days to pro, cause I've been getting mails from people asking why my podcasts aren't working anymore.... And since I really enjoy it a lot, it's probably worth the money. After that I will try the iTunes thingie.

Yes Marc, I upgraded to pro a couple of weeks ago as I'd gone past my limit. It's only £5- a month which allows me to talk b*llocks to the whole world, a small price I think! But my plans for total world domination have been thwarted, as feared I've been black-balled at the weekly itunes Board meeting. I knew should have sent them a brown envelope..... Oh well doesn't look like I'll be challenging Mike or Tim for the world reggae cup for a while yet then....

I took a look at that getting on iTunes today, but find it kinda strange you have create an iStore account and fill in your address and creditcard details / method of payment to do so. I mean, I don't want to buy from them, so why should I give 'm any details about payments if there's not gonna be any? I didn't submit the podcast there for now, cause I was wondering if everyone had to fill in this stuff to get on there and didn't you conscider it a bit weird to fill such details in only to make your podcast downloadable from them?

Yes Marc, I jumped through the same hoops, I think thats what is to be expected when you try to enter the lair of huge multi-nationals like i-tunes, its a case of leave all your valuables at the door and then you worry if you'll ever see them again! I've entered my podcast onto many other podcast directories but itunes was the only one to ask for my c/c details and the only one to turn me down aswell! I'll have to see if I can close my account with them now I suppose....
