Was also Count Alert, A. Bedasse and just plain old Bedasse. Odd name isn't it, I wonder what country of origin Bedasse comes from, French perhaps.
Anyway I just posted this really so there was something lingering in here, and I was feeling lonely, but if you want to check one of the lovliest Mento singers, you might not do better than good old Alert Bedasse.
Big up the Merry Mento Swingers.

hi seems like his real name was Alerth, another strange name, besides Bedasse, which looks french but a family name i've never heard. i am also very interested in mento and try to locate as many mento covers and influences in later JA music. I have found a lot, besides what is compiled on the very good site mentomusic.com . i gave the guy a whole list but he only published a few...

ALERTH !!!
That's interesting and thanks for that info, I'd not seen that anywhere before. There is something i love particularly about his voice and delivery, something very 'cute' about it. Cutness personified with his voice and the sublime lyrics of 'Farmyard Cha Cha Cha', to be found on the Chin's CDrs from Cd baby.
