I've got both Soul 2 and Sound Dimension both are excellent, mainly tracks I have on vinyl but nice to have them in good sound quality. If you're only buying one get Sound Dimension.IMO the best Soul Jazz S1 release so far. C.D

are Those Blackstones that UK trio ? Is it a UK pressing or a regular JA or US release? any good ? I'll let you know when I get it, but they are the UK group, recorded in Ja. I believe, and therefore a stndard S1 release, on Cd only I think, no vinyl seen mentioned yet.. As regards the sound dimension SJ release, I didn't even bother to check the tunes on it, it's quite possible that I have them all already, but it just seemed a nice grouping of a backing band I personally always get off on..

Wasn't it the Blackstones who were in the studio at the time Coxsone suffered his fatal heart attack???

Yes Joe they were recording with him at the time of his death.
Re: S1 Soul 2, the first release was covers of soul tunes. This second release features a random selection of tunes(mostly good ones though) and not all soul covers.
The Sound Dimension set is killer though and I'll be buying it ASAP.
Respect
Gordy

Indeed some strange choices on soul2 but all good stuff tho', same problems as we had with S1Funk it does make you wonder why they do this, surely they know Norwegian Wood isn't a soul tune!!!!! c.d

It's great to hear those riddims with full arrangements. There's a tune on there called Doctor Sappa Too. Is that where you got the Zapatoo? BTW, it's actually printed in silver metallic ink. Verrry nice! No expense spared.

got the SD album yesterday : just the promo copy so far. No title printed on it, new concept or what ???anyway, the music does the talking.I wonder why no one had thought about releasing a SD album before : enough material for several volumes! i suspect there'll be more as this one mentions : VOL 1. seems like the Soul 2 is less surprising than the first volume content-wise.The first is definitely one of the best on the SJ label. hey,i have an idea for a theme comp that has never been done before on reissue labels!i think it could be a real hypey thing!
