I am coming to London and will be in town for the last 2 weeks in August. While this is (ostensibly) a work trip, all work and no play makes Walter a dullard.
So I am looking for insight on the London reggae scene. Record shops, clubs, concerts, etc.
Thanks, in advance.

Thank for the response, bliss. The Notting Hill Carnival is taking place this weekend as well. I'll be checking that one out.

I can't imagine the Carnival was too much fun; what with it pissing down all day. My funny friend, Funny Dread, is there but then of course Funny, being Norwegian, is mad. Gladdy Waxwork is there. He wears white gloves that after five minutes are wet and need removing. Tim Pink is also there, with his gay mate Mr Pink, and his steed, Champion the Wonder Horse. Trojan Pete comes along, with a Northern Soul badge and a pin denoting that Pete is a member of the Trojan Appreciation Society. Jean Paul Seculair remains 18 years old for the 22nd year running.

Comparable amounts of water were last seen by Noah from the Captain's deck of the Ark. But who cares about weather conditions when you can meet friends at Gladstone Wax or Aba Zoki-I?

Hey Funky, was at Gladdy on the SUNDAY, sorry to miss you! I really enjoyed myself even if Channel 1 and Jah Observer weren't set up when I cruised past early. Galddy ahs some new amps, I thought the sound was v clean. My eldest boy Sean (10+) enjoyed hanging out with Tim and Steve, Steve's little boy Eli was nice. My youngest hated it, thought is was a ghastly, noisy, dirty experience.
Love hearing those tunes LOUD. Not sure about all that rain, though. No rain on Sunday.
See you next time?

Noah's flood appeared on Monday, very few punters at Gladdy Wax on Monday between 13:30 and 16:08, when I left for the Aba Shanti-I sound system. I agree, these old tunes should be played loud and Gladdy Wax is a good place for that.
See ya next time, will post a thread here in due time so that we can compare schedules.
Until then...
