The music I have played most often in the last 5 years is 'Ahamd Jamal Trio Live at The Pershing Lounge 1958' - it has had many, many plays. To the Barbican then on Friday to see one of the last great living figures of jazz (or 'American classical music' as he would call it) and a totally enthralling and very moving concert. I don't claim to have any deep understanding of the genre so associate a review here: www.londonjazznews.com/2013/02/review-ahmad-jamal-quartet-at-barbican.html?showComment=1360491408039The new release ('Blue Moon') was the only music that was played and is up for Grammys today.
