Thanks for that, Kas (have a karma point). Am trying to fight off a chest infection and losing, so I just pinged play on your link and lay back on my bed for an hour. Restorative. One of my regrets (I have a few but then again too few to mention - except this one) is that I never saw any of the great North African women singers: Oum Kalthoum, Reinette L'Oranaise, Warda Al Jazairia, Cheikha Rimitti, Dimi Mint Abba. Alas, they were too early for me or I was too late for them. I still hold out a vague hope of seeing the Zanzibaria taarab singer, Bi Kidude, before she pops her clogs. She is reputedly over 100 years old so I'd better get my skates on.
